Does your spouse whom you have chosen as your life partner manifest and express in herself the trait of being connected to the Blessed and Honorable Guest? Have you accepted your spouse based on the recommendations that Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have given and specified for you? Are our homes a place of competition and preparation for the purpose of being connected to the Blessed and Honourable Guest on the Day of Resurrection? Why is that we think that the pious and religious woman must necessarily lack beauty, wealth and high social status? And that the pious and religious man must necessarily poor and penniless; who possesses nothing more than an iron ring? Why is the request more for men to have good character piety but not so for women? Is being pious and religious ever separate from moral and ethical conduct? Three foundational principles in understanding marital relations, while at the same time reflecting deeply on the meaning and significance of maintaining chastity in human existence.
